Sydney's Melon Launches Free Tool to Assist Legitimate Email Marketers Avoid "Junk Mail" Filters.

Sydney based specialist email marketing company Melon Media has released a free web-based tool to assist legitimate marketers in getting their email messages through to their recipients.

Called "Melon Stork" - the tool analyses the email and based on an ever evolving algorithm determines the likelihood of the email getting caught in a junk mail filter in error.

Kevin Garber, General Manager of Melon Media, says they created the tool after noticing that many of their clients did not realise that the content of the email, ratio of text to images, subject line and other elements of their email could trigger spam filters – even though their recipients had opted-in to receive the emails.

" ‘ False positives' are a problem for the legitimate email marketing industry."

"Despite the fact that Spam filters have improved over the years email marketers are not always aware that simple changes to the content can prevent their messages getting bundled with the SPAM messages that cause a problem for us all," said Kevin Garber.

"For example many people in the financial services industry have problems getting their emails through as intended. The frequent references to money and dollars can trigger SPAM filters."

"The tool is free and available to everyone via our website. It is straightforward to use – all that needs to be done is to paste a copy of the email that the marketer intends sending into the tool and the tool gives you instant and detailed results – allowing the email to be refined based on the results and retested."

“The vision for Melon Media began many years ago in Africa where I grew up.

I saw first hand the impact that a successful business could have on its employees lives in helping them achieve their career goals, and on customers in making their lives easier and solving their business problems.

I was very influenced by witnessing the growth of a small family business.

Holidays were often spent in the African bush where it was like a real life Lion King environment complete with all the animals.

I would always be particularly fascinated by the elephants.

Their size (they are the largest terrestrial animals in the world), obvious intelligence and distinct personalities ensured that seeing a herd of elephants was always a highlight for me.

Despite their size and brute force, elephants emotional and sensitive nature is intriguing. For example elephants comfort other distressed elephants, and elephants have greetings rituals when herd members return after a long period of absence.

I remember vividly the feeling of expanse and freedom I felt when I was in the bush looking at the elephants. Hence me beginning to think along the lines of “freedom on all levels”.

I envisaged one day starting a company that would be bold, smart, proud yet collaborative, and aware of those around it … just like the African elephants.
